Practice with the Pro Day | FOUNDATION AND YOUTH GOLF
Tom Addis, Executive Director/CEO, Southern California Section

Summary:  The Southern California PGA was fortunate enough to have one of our Toyota Tour Cup members practice and compete in a PGA TOUR (The Desert Classic) practice round with our PGA Professional Championship Champion - Michael Block, PGA.

  • The Southern California Foundation conducted our first Practice with the Pros experience on Tuesday, January 15th at The Desert Classic in La Quinta, CA. The experience was conducted during an official practice round of the PGA TOUR's Desert Classic at PGA WEST - Stadium Course.
  • Jason Bannister, the TTC member who was chosen, experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact and practice inside-the-ropes with Michael Block, other PGA TOUR members and major champions
  • The Practice with the Pros experience was open to members of our top tier - Toyota Tour Cup
  • Thanks to our terrific sponsors, Jason was outfitted head to toe in Nike garb, received a Precision Pro Rangefinder, tickets to the Desert Classic, and a Sun Mountain golf bag w/ SCPGA Junior Tour logo
TTC staff member caddied for Jason throughout the round
  • Communications staff followed and captured the experience with inside-the-ropes access
  • Entry Fee: $50.00 | Each entry received a Nike cap.  One winner was drawn at random.
  • Participants were encouraged enter multiple times to increase their chances of winning the spot.
  • Proceeds directly benefited the SCPGA Foundation's ClubsForeYouth® program

The experience went extremely well and Michael and Jason thoroughly enjoyed their experience together. Based on the success from this event, we have been afforded the opportunity to host another experience at the LPGA TOUR's Hugel-Air Premia event at Wilshire Country Club in April.  Lizette Salas will be our host professional.
